About The Position

We are seeking a Cardiac Anesthesiologist to support the Veteran community in the Aurora, CO area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services for various surgical procedures and diagnostic/therapeutic interventions. A significant portion of the role is dedicated to direct patient care, including acute pain management, CPR, sedation, and anesthesia outside the operating room as needed. Consultative services are also provided at the patient's bedside or in the clinic setting. The position also includes coverage for the short stay unit, diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography, and emergency airway management.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
  • Advance certification in Transesophageal Echocardiography.
  • Fellowship training in critical care of cardiac anesthesia.
  • Experience with CABG and cardiac valve procedures.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services, including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations.
  • Provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites.
  • Provide primary coverage for all patients in the short stay unit.
  • Perform diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients.
  • Manage emergency airway situations.
  • Provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory, and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
  • Perform acute pain management, airway assistance, CPR, sedation, and anesthesia outside of the operating room as needed.
  • Complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
