About The Position

The Division of Anesthesiology at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is seeking a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist to join its Cardiac Anesthesiology section. This full-time role involves a high-volume, complex cardiac and thoracic case mix, including transplants, mechanical circulatory support, aortic reconstruction, TAVR, structural heart interventions, CABG, valve surgeries, esophageal operations, and other advanced thoracic and major vascular cases. The position is primarily dedicated to cardiac anesthesia within the specialized CVOR at MAHI, with minimal assignments in the Main OR. The cardiology and heart surgery program at Mid America Heart Institute (MAHI) is nationally ranked, performing over 1600 cardiothoracic, vascular, and hybrid procedures annually. Research involvement is available, and academic appointment opportunities exist due to Saint Luke’s serving as a primary teaching site for UMKC Medical School, including an anesthesia residency program.

Requirements

  • In the process of completing or have completed a cardiac anesthesia fellowship.
  • If training is finished, demonstrate recent cardiac anesthesia experience.
  • TEE board eligible or certified.
  • Applicable Experience: Less than 1 year
  • Doctorate Degree

Responsibilities

  • Focus clinical practice exclusively within the CVOR at MAHI.
  • Provide anesthesia for a high-volume, complex cardiac and thoracic case mix.
  • Participate in procedures such as heart and liver transplants, mechanical circulatory support (including LVAD implantation), aortic reconstruction, TAVR, structural heart interventions, CABG, valve surgeries, esophageal operations, and other advanced thoracic and major vascular cases.
  • Potentially engage in research involvement with members of the Outcomes/Research Division of MAHI.
  • Potentially contribute to the anesthesia residency program by supervising senior residents rotating through the CVOR.
