About The Position

JPJ Electronic Communications, Inc. is seeking a skilled individual to join their team as a Car - Supervisor - Install Equipment. This role involves installing and troubleshooting communication and safety equipment in various vehicles, including police cars, ambulances, buses, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, and trains. The position requires a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and wiring, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to follow specific installation procedures for different vehicle models. The supervisor will also be responsible for overseeing staff performing these installations. The work will predominantly be at the New York State Police garage in Middletown, with occasional work at NYSEG locations and Department of Corrections Facilities. Opportunities for travel and overnight stays, with expenses covered and a company vehicle provided, may be available.

Requirements

Experience in vehicle mechanics and wiring.
Mechanic’s tool set.
Neat work standards.
Valid NYS driver’s license.
Ability to pass a background check and a drug test.

Nice To Haves

Experience with 12 Volt Wiring.
Familiarity with UHF VHF FCC.

Responsibilities

Install, remove, and troubleshoot communication and safety equipment in vehicles.
Install Two-Way radios in vehicles, including mounting the chassis, head, running cables, and installing antennas.
Install additional electronic equipment in the vehicle as directed.
Ensure all vehicle installations follow specific procedures for consistency across a department's fleet.
Install light bars, full lighting packages, push bumpers, consoles, cages and partitions, License Plate Readers and other assorted electronics in Police vehicles, ambulances, buses, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats and trains.
Supervise staff performing equipment installations.
