About The Position

Under the general direction of the Rehabilitation Manager, provides daily clerical and building upkeep support of the Rehabilitation Department. Full time Rehab Support for Sparrow Carson Rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • One to three month clerical/secretarial/aide training and/or experience.
  • Must have word processing experience.
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Computer literacy and adaptability required.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and judgment skills a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to calls and visits from employees, managers, and others and determines the urgency of the situation.
  • Suggests appropriate referrals. Answers telephones, prioritizes, screens, and redirects calls. Answers questions, handles routine matters, and takes messages.
  • Establishes, maintains and revises record keeping and filing system.
  • Composes correspondence, memos, and reports, as instructed using a word processor, types, formats, edits, and proofreads a variety of materials, including correspondence, memos, reports, charts, statistics, and minutes, etc.
  • Accurately maintains schedule of all new outpatients for physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. Also assists with managing inpatient schedule as needed.
  • Assists with daily functions of building and clinic (recording temperatures, cleaning appliances, linen ordering and stocking, office supplies, rehab supplies)
  • Acts as a physical therapy aide as necessary and as assigned.
  • Opens, reviews, prioritizes, and distributes interoffice and external mail.
  • Obtains all insurance authorizations for rehabilitation referrals, and manages other insurance issues such as denials. Also monitors inpatient hospital referrals for possible preauthorization needs
  • Manages tracking and distribution of plans of care sent out by therapist and returned by providers.
  • Performs daily reports (such as checking charges for accuracy)
  • Manages charts for and marks for discharge those that have not schedule or plan of care has expired
