Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Operator’s License with driving privileges in the State of Virginia.
- DCJS Certification.
- Extensive working knowledge of departmental policies, institutional policies, operating practices, procedures, and inmate programs.
- Progressive security working experience within the Virginia Department of Corrections.
- Working experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work for others to include timekeeping and duty roster management.
- Extensive experience in the supervision of corrections staff.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
- Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
- Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.
Nice To Haves
- Coursework in Criminal Justice or related field, LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience or training.
- Knowledge and experience with Evidence Based Practices.
- Certification as an instructor (General, Firearms, Defensive Tactics and CPR).
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office Programs.
