About The Position

Enhances public safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia and Department of Corrections (DOC) staff and inmates, by meeting re-entry objectives and by providing effective security services, programming, custody and control of adult inmates in a major correctional facility.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Operator’s License.
Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Certification.
Working knowledge of departmental policies, institutional policies, operating practices, procedures, and inmate programs.
Progressive security working experience within the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC).
Experience in the supervision of corrections staff.
Experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work for others to include timekeeping and duty roster management.
Demonstrated working knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
Demonstrated ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

Nice To Haves

LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience or training.
Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office Programs.
Knowledge and experience with Evidence Based Practices.
