The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. Requirements

  • High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation.
  • Two years of experience supervising the work of Correctional Officers in the custody and security of adult inmates.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Must effectively and respectfully communicate with diverse populations, providing services to individuals with different beliefs, behaviors, and interpersonal styles in confinement or community settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional working fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or any other language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the Director of Security Operations in data analyst of Contraband and Incidents
  • Provide assistance to the Field with OCMS (Offender Case management System), analyzing data entered into OCMS, which is needed for State data.
  • Reviewing Serious Incident Reports for accurate data as well as Use of Force packets sent to the Director of Security Operations.
  • Provide data entry assistance to Security Operations Unit
  • Provide daily monitoring of OCMS entries for all DPSCS Facilities
  • Ensuring all Serious Incidents are entered into OCMS.
  • Assist and conduct training for newly promoted supervisors
  • Conduct monthly audits to ensure that facilities are following the policy and sending accurate paperwork to Security Operations
  • Responds immediately to emergencies, ensuring that the appropriate level of force is carried out.
  • Conducts adequate inspections and institutional rounds and thorough Searches so that disturbances, safety and health deficiencies and regulation and policy violations are minimized.
  • Maintains appropriate records and produces reports, correspondence and other documents that are accurate, timely and written in standard business language and format.
