About The Position
The Captain inspects vessels and peripheral equipment before voyages to ensure safe, efficient operation and compliance with regulations and company policies. The role uses navigational equipment, weather forecasts, and tide and current predictions to help ensure the safety of the vessel and crew. The Captain operates the vessel in oceans, bays, lakes, rivers, or coastal waters when safe to do so and as directed by a supervisor. The Captain works with the supervisor to adjust the float and work plan in response to changing environmental conditions, directs crew activities while deployed, and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 100-Ton Master Near Coastal credential required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect vessels and peripheral equipment prior to voyages to ensure safe, efficient operation and compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Use navigational equipment, weather forecasts, and tide and current predictions to support the safety of the vessel and crew.
- Operate the vessel in oceans, bays, lakes, rivers, or coastal waters when safe to do so and as directed by a supervisor.
- Work with the supervisor to adjust the float and work plan based on developing environmental conditions.
- Direct crew activities while deployed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
