About The Position

As a Capital Projects Senior Inspector, you’ll ensure water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and stormwater projects meet County standards and regulatory requirements. You’ll work in the field alongside engineers, contractors, and project managers, inspecting projects from construction through final acceptance. In this role you will: Conduct on-site inspections of Capital Improvement Projects for water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and stormwater utilities and treatment facilities. Inspect construction activities for compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, regulations, and contract requirements. Monitor project progress and verify construction is complete prior to final payment and County acceptance. Review construction plans, specifications, and material submittals to ensure compliance with applicable standards and contract requirements. Represent the Project Manager on assigned Capital Improvement Projects and enforce contract documents. Communicate with engineers, contractors, project managers, property owners, residents, and County departments throughout project construction. Verify and monitor construction material quantities and compare installed quantities with pay application submittals. Verify approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans are properly implemented at project sites. Investigate and respond to citizen complaints and neighborhood concerns related to assigned projects. Prepare inspection worksheets, daily activity reports, project files, and detailed documentation of project progress and issues.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in utility construction work and/or inspection and testing of utility work
  • College or university-level training in related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction/maintenance experience
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License at the time of hire
  • Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years in related inspecting experience
  • Technical knowledge of practices, standards and regulations of utility construction
  • Knowledge of standard traffic control
