Capital Projects Manager

MOJO Family of BrandsAlcoa, TN
Onsite

About The Position

MOJO is looking for a Capital Projects Manager to help shape the future of our growing portfolio of express car washes. This role goes far beyond traditional project management. You’ll serve leading capital improvement projects from concept through completion while partnering closely with the Senior Director of Facilities to improve the appearance, reliability, customer experience, and long-term performance of our locations. Projects vary significantly in size, complexity, and scope. One week may involve coordinating a ground-up construction project, while the next may focus on repainting a lobby, improving site flow, replacing signage, refreshing vacuum areas, upgrading equipment, managing a rebranding initiative, or modernizing an aging facility. As MOJO continues to grow through acquisitions, you’ll play an important role in evaluating newly acquired locations and helping apply our facility improvement playbook. The objective isn’t simply to complete projects—it’s to make smart investments that create measurable operational and financial value. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, bringing order to complexity, and helping influence good business decisions—not someone who simply waits for instructions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing commercial construction, capital improvement, facilities, retail renovation, or similar projects.
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong contractor and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands while maintaining momentum across numerous active projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multi-site commercial facilities.
  • Experience managing projects ranging from small facility improvements to ground-up construction.
  • Experience with budgeting, estimating, and capital planning.
  • Experience with permitting and municipal coordination.
  • Experience using project management software such as Monday.com, Asana, Procore, or similar.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to improve productivity and automate administrative work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Capital Improvement Projects: Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through completion. Develop scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and execution plans. Coordinate renovations, facility upgrades, rebranding projects, deferred maintenance, operational improvements, and new construction. Balance quality, schedule, budget, operational impact, and customer experience throughout every project. Keep projects moving by anticipating roadblocks and proactively resolving issues before they impact schedule or cost.
  • Improve Facility Performance: Every project should improve the business. Working alongside the Senior Director of Facilities, you’ll help evaluate locations and recommend improvements that increase reliability, improve the customer experience, reduce future maintenance costs, strengthen operational performance, and maximize return on investment. You’ll be expected to think critically—not simply execute predefined scopes.
  • Manage Contractors & Vendors: Develop scopes of work and bid packages. Solicit and evaluate competitive bids. Select, negotiate with, and manage contractors. Coordinate multiple trades throughout construction. Build and maintain a strong contractor network across multiple markets. Hold vendors accountable for quality, schedule, safety, and budget.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Coordinate permitting with local municipalities. Navigate varying county and city requirements. Manage inspections and code compliance. Resolve permitting issues and code violations through completion.
  • Design & Project Development: Help translate leadership’s vision into executable projects. Coordinate renderings, design concepts, and facility layouts. Collaborate with engineers, architects, designers, contractors, and Operations to refine project scopes before construction begins.
  • Communication: Serve as the central point of communication for assigned projects. You’ll coordinate with Operations, Facilities, Finance, contractors, vendors, maintenance leaders, and regional leadership to ensure everyone stays aligned from planning through project completion.
  • Administrative & Technology Support: Coordinate purchasing and material ordering. Maintain project documentation, budgets, schedules, and reporting. Continuously improve project tracking systems and workflows.
