About The Position

The Capital Projects Lead is responsible for the day-to-day execution, coordination, and delivery of the company’s new facility builds, large-scale renovations, and tenant improvements. This role serves as the primary point of contact between internal operations, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure specific capital projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within the approved budget. The Capital Projects Lead provides leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle from initial concept and design through commissioning and final turnover. The Lead has practical project management experience in commercial construction, a highly collaborative communication style, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts without losing sight of technical quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Extensive technical knowledge of commercial building design, spatial layouts, construction budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to handle day-to-day project challenges, logistics conflicts, and design issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex construction and renovation projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to facilitate coordination internally with executive leadership and externally with vendors.
  • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills to build collaborative partnerships across diverse departments and external agencies.
  • Proven ability to listen effectively, evaluate confidential situations, and determine appropriate courses of action under tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, flexibility, and creative thinking while maintaining a professional perspective under high-pressure scenarios.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in the building design and construction industry or in commercial construction project management.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the execution of assigned facility builds, renovations, and tenant improvements from initial concept and site assessments through punch-list completion and final turnover.
  • Assists in conducting initial site assessments, operational due diligence, site layout planning, and developing initial conceptual layouts and scoping documents.
  • Collaborates with the department manager to develop detailed project budgets, work schedules, resource plans, and project timelines.
  • Identifies and resolves day-to-day project issues, coordination conflicts, and schedule impacts, escalating major change events to the department manager as needed.
  • Oversees the design phase of assigned projects, managing external architects, design engineers, and internal engineering resources.
  • Coordinates closely with internal operations resources regarding the scheduling and execution of self-performed technical scopes of work.
  • Reviews design and constructability documents to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, work safety, and alignment with company standards.
  • Manages and directs general contractors, subcontractors, specialized vendors, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reviews and approves vendor invoices, project change orders, and subcontractor pay applications while maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
  • Leads project coordination meetings and provides regular, detailed status updates on schedules, budgets, and milestones to the department manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Competitive Wages: $133,000.00 to $171,500.00 Annual Salary.
