About The Position

3M Corporate Engineering is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to manage capital investment projects in support of the 3M Facilities & Services and Corporate Research Lab groups located in Maplewood, MN. 3M Facilities & Services has responsibility for all US and Canada non manufacturing facilities infrastructure, primarily in 3M Oakdale Headquarters, and Austin, TX. Additionally, this team supports all businesses Research & Development labs capital infrastructure. This position will support facilities/infrastructure upgrades and R&D equipment projects from start to finish at 3M Corporate Headquarters and some other 3M locations. In this role, you will work with 3M partners to define capital projects based on business needs and strategic goals; direct cross functional teams to execute assigned projects; periodically communicate status to team members, clients, and management personnel, and provide oversite support for outsourced contract project engineering of facilities renewal projects as needed. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an engineering, science, or construction management discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of combined experience in project management in engineering, research and development, manufacturing, and/or other related project management in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience in capital equipment and/or facilities project management in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Strong project management skills with ability to set objectives and drive results.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentations)
  • Experience with facilities/infrastructure design and construction
  • Prior experience with webline, extrusion, coating or analytical equipment
  • Proficient with typical business, office, and technical software for presentations, scheduling and spreadsheets
