Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and values-driven Capital Program Controls Assistant to support the Capital Program team while a new system is being installed. This role provides comprehensive project financial support by coordinating cost tracking, procurement, invoicing, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities in D365 to ensure accurate financial management and compliance across all project phases. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and reconciliation skills, exceptional organization and attention to detail, effective communication and collaboration across teams, and the ability to manage multiple accounting processes accurately in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment. This is a contract position, in Calgary until December 2026.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education with a diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Up to 5 years of progressive experience with invoicing and cost control functions.
  • Experience supporting project financial management, including cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of purchase requisitions, three-way matching (PO, receipt, invoice), and invoice processing.
  • Proficiency with project and financial systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
  • Experience with project setup, in-service and closeout reporting within a project management or ERP system.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, monthly forecasting, and variance analysis (actuals vs. plan/forecast).
  • High attention to detail with the ability to track costs accurately across multiple budget line items.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • A committed team player who is willing to pitch in as needed to support team objectives and organizational success.
  • Adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to learn quickly, troubleshoot issues, and think critically.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers (PMs) and Project Leads (PLs) with cost tracking, purchase requisition generation, receiving goods and services for three-way match, and invoice processing for individual projects.
  • Assist PMs with project set-up, monthly forecasting and project in-service and completion reporting in the project system.
  • Track actual costs on budget line items, including collecting information for invoices and tracking costs in D365.
  • Assist with monthly forecasts, annual budget input, gathering variances of actual to plan and forecast and ensure required financial processes are followed.
