About The Position

Requirements

  • Four-year university degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Management or other related field plus three years of related experience.
  • Related diploma plus five years directly related experience.
  • Accounting designation and one-year additional related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge within 1GX (SAP or comparable system) Fixed Asset Module, including asset setup, categorization and transaction review.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing capital asset accounting entries (e.g., amortization, disposals, gain/loss calculations).
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) in relation to capital asset management.
  • Experience performing reconciliations between subledger (asset modules) and the General Ledger.
  • Experience analyzing capital asset transactions (construction, acquisition, transfer, amortization) and ensuring accurate financial treatment.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating year-end financial reporting processes.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working with relevant financial information systems, reporting tools, and software (e.g., Excel, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / System Analysis Program (SAP).

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the 1GX Fixed Asset Module is appropriately updated with all pertinent information, including reviewing the categorization of all transactions.
  • Preparing accounting entries such as unplanned amortization or any gain/loss calculations.
  • Compiling, maintaining, and reconciling Insurance Coverage Renewal for Risk Management Insurance to determine the annual insurance premiums for the Ministry.
  • Preparing capital asset working papers, such as reconciling the Asset Modules to the General Ledger.
  • Providing capital asset consultation services to foster compliance and consistent application of public sector accounting standards.
  • Coordinating the completion of various reports and requests for information about capital assets and year-end activities.
