About The Position

The Capital Access Program Director provides the leadership and direction for a statewide financing service program to help small businesses access capital for business start-up and expansion. Provides broad marketing efforts of the SBDC Capital Access Program (CAP) to potential clients, various sources of capital and financial institutions, and economic development organizations in the field that assist existing industry. Establishes and maintains the viability of the program among all stakeholders and clients as a resource for assisting small businesses with access to capital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience with small business in the areas of finance, business planning, start-up and business expansion, debtsources of capital, law, taxation, and accounting; OR master's degree and two (2) years of experience with small business in the areas of finance, business planning, start-up and business expansion, debt sources of capital, law, taxation, and accounting.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • At least 19 years of age at time of hire.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report in compliance with University policies.
  • Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with small business challenges and solutions in the areas of finance, business planning, debt and sources of capital, law, taxation, and accounting.
  • Understanding and experience with SBA and government guaranty lending programs, commercial lending, credit analysis, and underwriting.
  • Pre-existing relationships and experience with the Alabama business, lending, legal, and capital advisory community.
