About The Position

A food hall busperson, often referred to as a busser or busboy/busgirl, plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and smooth operation of a food hall or restaurant. The role of a food hall busperson is vital to the overall guest experience and the efficient operation of the establishment. Bussers help ensure that the restaurant remains clean, organized, and that guests have an enjoyable dining experience.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of high-volume counter or fast-food experience in a similar or related field.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Polished appearance and demeanor.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to obtain & maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Buspersons should be capable of lifting, carrying, and clearing used dishes, glassware, and trays, which can be physically demanding.
  • Ability to obtain & maintain full knowledge and understanding of the venues Menu.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a similar position within a hospitality establishment.
  • Previous experience working in a large, luxury resort setting.

Responsibilities

  • Clearing and cleaning tables once guests have finished their meals, including removing used dishes, glassware, utensils, and any other items left on the table.
  • Setting up tables for the next group of guests after clearing, which includes wiping down the table and arranging clean utensils, napkins, and other necessary items neatly.
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic dining environment by regularly cleaning and sanitizing tables, chairs, and any other surfaces in the dining area.
  • Assisting counter attendants and servers by ensuring they have necessary items for efficient service, such as refilling water glasses, providing extra napkins, and assisting in other ways to enhance the guest experience.
  • Collecting dirty dishes and transporting them to the dishwashing area for cleaning, and potentially assisting in washing and drying dishes during busy periods.
  • Restocking supplies like condiments, salt and pepper shakers, and other tabletop items to ensure guests have everything they need.
  • Emptying trash bins and replacing trash bags as needed to keep the dining area clean.
  • Communicating with kitchen staff and servers to ensure a smooth flow of food and service, potentially relaying special requests from guests or alerting the kitchen to specific needs.
  • Providing general assistance wherever needed in the restaurant, which could include assisting with hosting duties, greeting guests, or helping with other tasks as directed by management.
  • Interacting with guests by being polite, attentive, and responsive to guest needs to provide a positive dining experience.
  • Stocking/restocking all paper goods and putting away orders in their designated area in a timely manner.
