About The Position

The Cancer Support Program Coordinator is responsible for developing educational and psych-social programs supporting wellness and comprehensive care for clients dealing with cancer in collaboration with cancer center staff. The Coordinator serves as the conduit for programs offered at the cancer center and in conjunction with other local cancer agencies such as the American Cancer Society. They support patient care through direct patient contacts, educating staff about program offerings and resources available, community networking with other service providers, and by acting as the liaison for all facilitators/instructors of cancer support groups and classes. The coordinator oversees volunteer services at the Cancer Center and serves as the on-site coordinator for the PAWS animal activities program. Additionally, oversight is provided to "Healing Art" displays (Healing Art Gallery committee, Faces of Hope, community healing arts projects) and library volunteers in terms of development, acquisitions, and daily operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in field that demonstrates good communication skills)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to meet deadlines both financial and time related
  • Must show sensitivity for the patient and family
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Self-motivated, flexible and able to work well with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficient at basic computer programs such as Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position
