About The Position

The Non-Certified Cancer Registrar, East Tennessee Cancer Registry, is a full-time position working 72 hours per pay period on the day shift. This position is home-based, but in-person meetings are sometimes required. Covenant Health Cancer Centers is the region’s largest cancer-fighting network, offering advanced therapies and clinical trials. The position involves processing, maintaining, compiling, and reporting health information data for research, quality assessment, facility planning, and marketing. The registrar will abstract and code clinical data using appropriate classification systems, obtain long-term follow-up data for Commission on Cancer Approved Programs, and analyze health records according to governmental or institutional standards.

Requirements

• Anatomy and Physiology
• Medical Terminology
• Good Computer Skills
• Good Communication Skills
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D
• State mandated minimum insurance coverage
• Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.

Responsibilities

• Collect, calculate, analyze, interpret and present data related to cancer.
• Analyze health records according to standards.
• Review and evaluate quality assessment issues.
• Apply techniques for acquiring, filing, and maintaining cancer-related registry information.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Completes required education assignments annually.
• Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Other related duties as assigned by manager.
• Travel as necessary to other contracting facilities.
