About The Position

This position provides expertise for a variety of business support functions and monitoring of quality and patient safety initiatives for the Cancer Program. Collaborates with system leadership, including executives and director level team members to monitor quality and patient safety indicators throughout the Cancer Program. This role requires strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills to achieve desired results across the program.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge as typically obtained through an associate degree in science or education or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Requires experience in a program coordinator or administrative assistant type role typically attained within 2 years.
  • Requires strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Applications.
  • Requires demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a working member of the Quality Management Committee, Quality Council and other pertinent meetings to ensure agenda preparation and documentation of meeting minutes. Independently follows up on questions or concerns discussed in these meetings and reviews findings with meeting participants.
  • Identifies new quality and patient safety opportunities based on data and analysis of current performance.
  • Prepares data collection tools and collects appropriate data for each project or indicator. Monitors and audits data to ensure statistical reliability and validity.
  • Collects, monitors, and analyzes patient safety data. Uses personal judgement to alert leadership to trends and safety events that require immediate risk assessment.
  • Creates project plans using a Quality Improvement Project Charter, assigns tasks and resources, tracks progress, and identifies barriers with escalation as needed.
  • Provides necessary staff education related to identified knowledge deficits that impact the quality and safety of patient care delivery.
  • Performs administrative duties to support the Director of Quality and Patient Safety including maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings and booking conference rooms.
  • Completes special projects or assignments as needed.
  • Creates and maintains Tumor Board conference agendas and distributes to the appropriate staff and departments. Monitors and records attendance at Tumor Board conferences and supports reports for clinical staff to receive continuing education credits. Documents Tumor Board discussions as required by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC).
