SEI’s Energize Colleges Program and Feather River College are seeking students for the position of Campus Sustainability & Energy Intern. About SEI: Building Leaders For A Resilient World, and Energize Colleges SEI, is a nonprofit environmental consultancy that builds leaders to drive and accelerate sustainability solutions. For over 25 years, SEI has partnered with schools, communities, and businesses to develop a sustainability leadership pathway from elementary school to early career. The Energize Colleges program helps build a highly qualified energy and sustainability workforce through paid, hands-on internships and fellowships, and academic learning experiences for students to explore sustainability career opportunities. Note that you must be a student of Feather River College to be considered for this position. The four goals of the Energize Colleges Internship Program are to: Develop intern awareness, knowledge, and behavior associated with energy concepts including energy efficiency and electrification. Develop interns’ technical skills and career readiness by providing training, hands-on experience, and work and/or internship experiences. Provide resources and mentoring to increase interns’ knowledge of sustainability and energy careers. Develop interns’ skills in the coordination of energy, education, and workforce development projects. This internship requires a commitment to working 12-15 hours per week for a total of 150 hours from March 10, 2026 to May 22, 2026. Interns are compensated at $20 per hour. Interns will assist their site with energy efficiency and/or electrification-related projects, the creation of campus education and outreach resources, and/or the integration of energy efficiency, demand side management, and electrification concepts into course materials. This is a hybrid position, work is conducted on-site and remotely. Real-World Experience: Contribute to a meaningful project that impacts your campus’s climate change solutions. Position Summary Under the direction of Site Supervisor Hayden Lampe, the intern will collaborate with Facilities and the Sustainability Action Team (SAT) to identify practical energy efficiency solutions on campus. This role bridges the gap between technical research and student engagement, allowing the intern to co-design outreach projects that align with their personal interests and SEI’s sustainability requirements. Core Responsibilities Strategic Research: Conduct interviews and discussions with campus departments and PG&E representatives to identify practical solutions for reducing our carbon footprint. Sustainability Systems Review: The student will identify and select one or more focus areas and conduct an audit of campus systems to assess potential energy or waste savings. Focus areas may include food service equipment, lighting schedules, or greenhouse gas emissions. Education & Outreach: In collaboration with the Sustainability Action Team (SAT), create and facilitate presentations, events, or tabling for college students, faculty, and high school audiences focused on campus sustainability goals and green career pathways. Waste & Resource Management: Explore "passion projects" related to waste reduction or resource efficiency that can be scaled for campus-wide impact. Digital Outreach: Develop newsletters or social media content to share energy data and local green job opportunities with FRC and or local high school students. Requirements

Be a currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate student at Feather River College
Be interested in energy efficiency, electrification, and sustainability
Either coursework, volunteer work, or experience in any of the following fields: Environmental Science, Architecture, Building Construction, Engineering, HVAC, Real Estate, or Food Service Management
Be able to provide a valid Federal W-9 form, required identification, and authorization for employment
Be an organized self-starter with excellent time management skills
Knowledge, familiarity, and/or a strong interest in climate change and energy concepts
Strong communication and workplace skills, such as accountability, self-motivation, the ability to work both independently and on teams, respect, openness to giving and receiving feedback, organization, and timeliness.

Nice To Haves

Project management or campus organization experience is a bonus, but not required (volunteer work and coursework may count)
