About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Computer Manager, this position will be responsible for providing excellent customer service in the Computer Department, maintaining the demo units on the floor, and assisting the Computer Manager in the day-to-day operations. Promotes Bookstore sales by providing high quality customer service; demonstrates knowledge of products and services; is responsive to customer needs. Works efficiently as a team member, taking initiative to perform tasks, resolve problems and ensure a successful outcome.

Requirements

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) degree; equivalent is required plus at least one year retail/customer service experience.
Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Must be available at least 6.5 hours per day at least three days a week to include Saturday’s.
Must be able to read, write and understand English.
Requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines and objectives.
Requires the ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees using correct English and a well-modulated voice.
Requires good voice quality that is conversational and professional.
Requires basic math skills with the ability to count in ascending or descending order.
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Requires the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out general written or oral instruction.
Requires the ability to use a variety of equipment such as a cash register, a phone, a computer and a calculator.
Must have the ability to talk/expressing and/or exchanging ideas and hear/perceiving sounds.
Physical appearance presented to the public and internal employees must be professional.
Must be able to operate cash registers.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for prolonged hours and handle objects.
Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk/move.
Must be able to move, lift or carry heavy objects or materials up to 35 pounds.
Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision.

Responsibilities

Assists management with the operations staff, which includes coaching of employees, scheduling and directing work assignments to ensure effective operations.
Assists management in daily unit operations to ensure that proper procedures and guidelines are in place and followed for provision of quality products and services.
Supervise and train seasonal employees during Fall/Spring Rush.
Resolve customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
Develops and maintains working relationships with customers, coworkers, vendors, student organizations, faculty, staff, and university personnel.
Focus on becoming knowledgeable on all Aztecnology department store products.
Supervises and trains temporary employees during Fall/Spring Rush.
Answers inquiries, provides information, and interacts with customers according to established guidelines.
Greets customers and offers assistance according to standard procedures.
May assist with stocking/restocking of inventory and replenishment of Bookstore items.
Maintains clean work areas and tools/equipment.
Uses interpersonal skills to build customer confidence.
Maintains positive working relationships with customers and co-workers.
Assists other departments as needed.
Develops and maintains working relationships with customers, coworkers, vendors, student organizations, faculty, staff, and university personnel.
Must comply with and ensure continued, consistent compliance with all company policies, and federal, state, and local laws/regulations including but not limited to: employment, safety, and health.
