About The Position

Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is seeking highly-skilled Special Education Teachers to serve as Campus Special Education Teachers. This role involves overseeing the delivery of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) in classrooms and managing IEPs for students. The teacher will work under the supervision of the Campus Director and Assistant Director of Special Education, supporting IEP development, SDI implementation, progress monitoring, and overall student success. Candidates should have experience with research-based educational strategies for students with disabilities, ABA teaching strategies, and conducting these activities in school settings. The Master Special Education Teacher will collaborate with school leadership to foster a positive school culture focused on best practices for students on the autism spectrum.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities
  • At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate IEP Service and delivery of Specially Designed Instruction for designated students
  • Manage all aspects of the IEP, including scheduling meetings, completing paperwork, and monitoring progress.
  • Manage educational programming for students on caseload
  • Support classroom staff in the implementation of each IEP
  • Maintain knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study.
  • Oversight of staff creating a safe learning environment
  • Oversight of accommodations and modifications to the adopted curriculum
  • Analyze IEP data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
  • Parent communication
  • Training and oversight of structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
  • Staff communication/feedback
  • Collaboration with ABA Managers for behavior and/or data analysis
  • Maintain substitute plans in case of absence
  • Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
  • Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
  • Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential job duty
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Directs, monitors, and mentors paraprofessionals and behavior specialists working with students who have disabilities.
