About The Position

This role involves transporting employees, students, and visitors within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and its assigned operational areas. The driver is responsible for safely and efficiently boarding and discharging passengers, monitoring vehicle performance, and addressing any immediate operational issues. Additionally, the position includes fueling and cleaning the vehicle, performing pre/post-trip inspections, and maintaining various administrative and operational logs. Effective communication with passengers regarding schedules and services is crucial, as is maintaining thorough work records and reporting any incidents.

Requirements

A high school diploma and one year experience in truck driving, operating a crane or operating a motor vehicle.
CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement required.
Ability to perform job functions in an upright position.

Responsibilities

Transports employees, students, and visitors to MUSC and areas within the assigned area of operations.
Boards and discharges passengers with concern and consideration safely and efficiently.
Monitors vehicle performance on the road and immediately isolates and remedies issues that are within the normal scope of a vehicle operator’s responsibility.
Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to substituting for other drivers, quick rides, of town travels (day trips).
Responsible for fueling and cleaning of the vehicle; mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing.
Performs operator’s pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as needed.
Maintains administrative and operational logs including, but not limited to, inspection forms, mileage logs, passenger counts, accident/incident reports, and regular updates on mandatory training requirements.
Communicates effectively with passengers and customers in a respectful way regarding transportation schedules and services.
Maintains thorough work records while making timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
