About The Position

Under general supervision, the Campus Security Guard provides security coverage for the College by conducting patrols and security checks, monitoring campus activities, reporting hazards, assisting with incident response, and supporting the Campus Police Department. This position helps maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through proactive observation, reporting, and customer service. This is a NON-SWORN position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in security, law enforcement, military service, customer service, or related field
  • Basic knowledge of security procedures, incident reporting, and emergency response practices.
  • Must possess a CPR/First Responder Certification or be willing to obtain within three (3) months.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and effectively use security management software and other technology required to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct foot patrols and security checks of College buildings, including interior and exterior areas, parking lots, walkways, and campus grounds to identify security concerns, safety hazards, and unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor activities, vehicles, and pedestrian traffic in parking lots, courtyards, and common areas.
  • Manage physical and electronic security systems, including the Genetec Unified Security Platform for access control and video surveillance.
  • Observe and report suspicious persons, activities, or circumstances to Campus Police Officers.
  • Utilize two-way radio communications and other department-issued equipment to maintain contact with Campus Police Officers and dispatchers.
  • Assist with crowd management, traffic control, and security operations during special events, ceremonies, and campus activities.
  • Monitor campus facilities for unauthorized access, unsecured doors, lighting issues, and other security vulnerabilities.
  • Routinely surveys the campus to check for any safety, health or environmental concerns and report findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide information, directions, and assistance to students, employees, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare accurate and timely security reports documenting incidents, observations, security concerns, and daily activities.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
