Shenandoah University’s Department of Campus Safety is hiring dependable, proactive, community-minded Campus Safety Officers to help provide a secure and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at its main campus in Winchester, Virginia. This is an unarmed, non-sworn position centered on prevention, visibility, and engagement rather than enforcement. Officers serve as professional ambassadors of safety and service, building trust and supporting the university community. The Department of Campus Safety operates 24/7 and works with the Winchester Police Department, Frederick County Emergency Services, and other local agencies. The role includes day and night patrols, responses to safety concerns, building access duties, monitoring surveillance systems, customer service, event and emergency support, incident documentation, and notification of local law enforcement when criminal incidents are suspected or confirmed. Training is provided to complete and maintain Virginia Campus Security Officer certification. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references. Applications are reviewed immediately and accepted until a qualified candidate is selected. A pre-employment background check and urine screening are required; a satisfactory driving record may be required as a condition of hire. Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition of employment; the university is not currently able to sponsor international visas.
