About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking dedicated Campus Safety Guards to join their growing team. As a Campus Safety Guard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our campus facilities. This position involves monitoring access points, patrolling the campus, responding to emergencies, documenting incidents, conducting investigations, enforcing parking regulations, and interacting positively with the campus community. Your assignments may include stationary roles at security booths or front desks, as well as patrol duties, depending on business needs. We are looking for individuals who can work flexible hours, including daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position and daily responsibilities.
  • Must have physical stamina to chase on foot, apprehend, subdue and restrain.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a drug test.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or College credits in Criminal Justice or related study, preferred.
  • Certifications in CPR, First Aid and First Responder are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor access to campus facilities and ensure proper identification for entry.
  • Patrol and monitor assigned parking areas and garages for security and assistance.
  • Provide escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty.
  • Offer public assistance such as lockout services, jump-starts, and routine information.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations concerning complaints, accidents, and violations.
  • Record information on thefts, physical violence, and other incidents.
  • Advise individuals on how to proceed and may cite individuals under the Student Conduct Code.
  • Request assistance from appropriate authorities depending on incident severity.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies such as medical incidents, bomb threats, and fires.
  • Administer emergency first aid, including CPR and use of an AED.
  • Determine the need for ambulance or other medical assistance.
  • Model and support a community-oriented approach to safety and security.
  • Interact with faculty, staff, students, and the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Build effective relationships between public safety and GCU community members.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
