About The Position

Campus Police Officers are responsible for the protection of all life and property on all Enid Public School District properties, using community-based policing to ensure the safety and cooperation of the entire campus. This approach involves developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, faculty and staff members.

Requirements

Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have a high school diploma or GED
No felony convictions
No convictions for crimes of moral turpitude or domestic violence
Must not have had a DUI, DWI or reckless driving violation within last 5 years
Must pass background check
Must pass physical
Must pass MMPI
Must be a United States Citizen
Must be able to complete the Field Training Officer Program
Have high principles, ethics and moral character
Have excellent communication skills
Must be able to work in a school setting
Must qualify yearly with duty weapon

CLEET Certification is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide for campus safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations.
Record facts to prepare reports that document incidents and activities.
Monitor, note, report, and investigate suspicious persons and situations, safety hazards, and unusual or illegal activity in patrol area.
Identify, pursue, and arrest suspects and perpetrators of criminal acts.
Review facts of incidents to determine if criminal act or statute violations were involved.
Render aid to accident victims and other persons requiring first aid for physical injuries.
Investigate traffic accidents and other accidents to determine causes and to determine if a crime has been committed.
Cooperate with other law enforcement officials.
Perform other duties as directed by superiors.
Deter and prevent unlawful behavior, issuing citations, serving warrants, apprehending offenders, making arrests, preserving crime scenes, investigating crimes, conducting surveillance, and testifying in court.
Carry and use firearms to perform their duties.
Patrol buildings, grounds, and facilities, and look out for criminal and suspicious activity as well as for violations of laws, regulations, policies, and rules.
Watch for unusual conditions as well as for signs of fire and safety hazards.
Respond to a wide range of requests for service from students, faculty, and others on campus, concerning criminal or noncriminal matters.
Write accurate and detailed reports of their activities, including incident reports and investigative reports.
Maintain records and files about incidents, criminal records, and lost and found items.
