About The Position

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a full-time Campus Police Officer to promote Marian University's Catholic mission and identity by guarding the peace, tranquility, and serenity of the University while attempting to ensure justice and maintain the dignity of the individuals. The Campus Police Officer is part of the Campus Police Department pursuant to Indiana Code, Title 21, Article 39, Chapter 4.0 to 4.7. The Campus Police Officer has general police powers, and has the same common law and statutory powers, privileges and immunities as sheriffs and constables. The Campus Police Officer is responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal laws serving to protect life, primarily, and property secondarily. Comply with Marian University rules and policies, guarding the peace, tranquility and serenity of the University while attempting to ensure justice and maintain the dignity of the individual.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must successfully complete the 16-week Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Training.
  • Must maintain certification.
  • Attend a minimum of 24 hours annual in-service training.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
