About The Position

The Campus Parking Patroller I is responsible for monitoring parking facilities, enforcing traffic and parking laws, and assisting the public. This role involves foot patrols, issuing citations, restricting access to certain areas, providing visitor permits, and assisting with information and directions. The patroller also identifies and reports safety hazards, vandalism, and equipment malfunctions, and may perform cleaning tasks. Additionally, the position assists with special events by reserving lots, performing parking attendant duties, and providing traffic control. A valid driver's license is required to operate a state vehicle.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Possession of a classified driver's license appropriate to the type of vehicle operated.
  • Ability to operate a state vehicle.

  • Working knowledge of radio codes and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of procedures and equipment used in impounding/towing illegally parked vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor parking facilities and ensure compliance with traffic and parking laws and University regulations.
  • Conduct foot patrols of assigned areas, including streets, parking facilities/lots, and traffic entrances.
  • Issue citations for parking and decal violations.
  • Restrict access to designated areas and notify the police department of any unauthorized vehicle entry.
  • Greet visitors and issue appropriate visitor parking permits.
  • Assist the public with information and directions in person and via telephone.
  • Provide motorist assistance and assist in traffic control for students, visitors, faculty, and staff.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, vandalism, suspicious persons/activities, and malfunctioning equipment.
  • Request cleaning of facilities as needed and perform cleaning tasks when necessary.
  • Prepare and submit written reports of incidents.
  • Conduct traffic and parking lot utilization surveys and submit written reports.
  • Reserve lots and parking facilities for special campus events.
  • Perform parking attendant duties for scheduled events, including all University of Florida home football games.
  • Provide traffic control duties for University-sponsored events.
  • Maintain daily records of vehicles granted or denied entrance to restricted areas and submit written reports.
