About The Position

This is a full-time role at Aspire Lionel Wilson College Preparatory Academy in Oakland, CA. Aspire Public Schools operates a network of high-performing, college preparatory charter schools serving TK-12 scholars in communities across California. Founded in 1998, Aspire is one of the largest and most forward-thinking open-enrollment public charter school systems in the nation, with the purpose of preparing scholars for success in college, career, and life. The Campus Monitor observes and supports students during lunch and passing breaks to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable environment conducive to student interaction and learning.

Requirements

Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good problem solving ability; sound judgment.
Ability to interact appropriately with children of all ages.
Computer skills.
Minimum educational level: High school diploma or equivalent.
First Aid and valid CPR training.
1+ years experience observing and supervising K-12 students preferred.
Ongoing behavior management and de-escalation training.
Physical requirements: Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height. Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping). Demonstrate normal depth perception. Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone. See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids. Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aides.
Clear the Department of Justice background screening.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years).

Responsibilities

Supervise students during lunch/recess and passing periods, including enforcing school rules, school boundaries, and school behavior expectations.
Ensure a safe environment in the lunchroom, school grounds, and parking lot.
Work with other school staff to ensure sufficient level of supervision coverage in all areas of the lunch room, school yards, and parking lot.
Help mediate and resolve conflicts between students.
Administer first aid as needed.
Manage computer logs and complete accident reports.
Help keep the campus clean.
Identify any major security or safety hazards and major repair needs in the recess area and ensure safety rules are followed.
Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
