About The Position

The Campus Monitor provides support to the educational process by ensuring the safety and welfare of students during classroom and non-classroom activities. This role aims to minimize harmful incidents and communicate observations that may impact students, school personnel, and visitors. The position is part-time, working 5.75 paid hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, from 9:30 AM to 3:45 PM. The hourly rate is $20.80 after a 60-day probationary period.

Requirements

Must have or be willing to obtain a Substitute Authorization license issued by the State of Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
Pleasant personality.
Ability to work well with staff and students.

Responsibilities

Communicates district and/or school safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students.
Documents and reports incidents through two-way radio and maintains a variety of files and records.
Escorts students, assigned personnel and/or visitors to offices and/or special locations.
Intervenes in potential conflicts and emergency situations.
Monitors school facilities, approaches strangers and directs them to appropriate locations.
Monitors student behavior in various settings and checks facilities consistently.
Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc.
Patrols activities on campus parking lots.
Refers incidents, unusual activities and/or behavior to administrators.
Reports incidents and assists in preparing documentation.
Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources regarding campus security issues.
Responds to a variety of situations (e.g. injuries, vandalism, suspicious activities, alarms, etc.).
Surveys student behavior, with/without camera surveillance on computer, and visually scans various areas.
Assists in opening/closing facilities (e.g. classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, etc.).
Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.
