About The Position

The job of Campus Monitor is done for the purpose of monitoring the campus and students after regular school hours related to extra-curricular activities and events to ensure the safety and security of students, staff and property. This job reports to the Principal or assigned administrator.

Requirements

• KNOWLEDGE OF: Basic methods of individual and group supervision; basic interests, attitudes and emotional development of adolescents; basic laws regarding the supervision of students; skills utilized to maintain positive relationships with students and adults; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; health and safety regulations; basic first aid; and basic record-keeping and incident reporting techniques.
• ABILITY TO: Patrol and monitor an assigned campus to maintain safety and security in a high school setting.
• Assure student compliance with school and District policies and regulations.
• Learn, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Perform duties with patience, tact and good judgment and within established guidelines.
• Learn District organization, operations, policies and objectives.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Observe situations and accurately determine an effective course of action.
• Maintain routine records and reports as assigned.
• Operate a two-way radio.
• Understand written and oral instructions.
• Working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.
• Acquire and maintain First Aid/CPR Card.
• Clearances: ODE Fingerprint/Background Clearance

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor an assigned campus to maintain safety and security of students; monitor auditorium, lunch areas, walkways, restrooms and parking lots and sporting events including crowd control.
• Refer students to office for disciplinary action as necessary; Report concerns to supervising staff member and/or administration as appropriate according to established procedures; escort students to lock-out as necessary.
• Enforce school and District rules, regulations and policies for the safety and security of students, staff and property; report unusual activities or unauthorized persons on campus to appropriate personnel.
• Prevent student conflicts and fights according to established guidelines; intervene as necessary; advise students of consequences if rules are violated.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, staff and community; communicate with students and staff to provide and receive information regarding student activities.
• Manage student behavior, following district/building discipline policies and procedures for the purpose of educating students about appropriate conduct.
• Maintain the confidentiality of student records, incidents, and all communication involving students staff and the community.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
