About The Position

The Campus Ministry Coordinator is responsible for developing, sustaining, and expanding ministry initiatives among students at the college and universities within the geographic boundaries of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The coordinator will work directly with the Parochial Administrator and the Campus Ministry team in helping students who have never met Christ to encounter Him, supporting those who have met Him to grow in their relationship with Him, and equipping those who follow Christ so that they can become apostles on their campuses and in the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry, Theology/Religious Studies or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in campus ministry or ministerial accompaniment.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working as part of a team, exhibiting knowledge of group dynamics, organization, communication, and leadership.
  • Experience initiating and independently executing successful ministry programs or events.
  • Proven ability to mentor and empower student leaders to take ownership of their own projects.
  • Reliable transportation

  • Bilingual, Spanish, preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic with demonstrated expertise in ministry
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, including writing, proof reading and speaking.
  • Extensive working knowledge of one-on-one discipleship, young adult’s ministry, communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience with computer software, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media;
  • Experience serving as a witness to the Catholic faith: practicing personal spiritual growth, evangelizing, answering theological questions, and advocating for the teachings of Catholicism;
  • Experience building and fostering professional relationships with diverse levels of constituent (students, college and university faculty or administration, priests, parish staff, and Archdiocesan leaders)
  • Must be able to work in different weather climates;
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, sustain, and expand ministry initiatives among students.
  • Work directly with the Parochial Administrator and the Campus Ministry team.
  • Help students encounter Christ, grow in their relationship with Him, and become apostles.
  • Plan and create new ministry programs and events.
  • Empower students and volunteers to take ownership of their discipleship and ministry projects.
  • Invent approaches and original events to foster strong discipleship programs.
  • Create opportunities to form students into leaders and accompany them in their faith journey.
  • Develop creative and engaging ministry programs, including innovative liturgies, retreats, service opportunities, and social media content.
  • Evaluate and assess theological content to ensure consistency with Catholic Church teachings.
  • Manage the quality of regular campus ministry events (weekly Masses, confessions, Eucharistic adoration, service projects, fellowship, student meetings).
  • Discern large picture ministry planning and ensure all details are covered for each gathering.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to identifying pastoral needs of students and responding appropriately.
  • Refer students for guidance or services beyond the scope of campus ministry when necessary.
  • Operate within the Campus Ministry budget.
  • Establish and implement strategic short- and long-term office goals, plans, objectives, ministerial policies, and operating procedures in consultation with the Parochial Administrator.
  • Design and implement ministry strategies that address varying student spiritual needs.
  • Analyze and assess ministry outcomes, adjusting programs to better serve students’ growth and engagement.
  • Establish and lead discipleship groups or meetings with students.
  • Identify student leadership potential and spiritually guide and ministerially train them.
  • Train, mentor, and equip student leaders to independently plan and execute ministry initiatives.
  • Foster a culture where students initiate discipleship projects and feel ownership of their spiritual growth.
  • Encourage student decision-making while providing pastoral guidance.
  • Recruit, supervise, and train all campus ministry volunteers.
  • Support the Events & Liturgies Coordinator in implementing events to reach out to new students.
  • Collaborate as an equal and contributing member of the Campus Ministry team.
  • Remain in regular communication with the Campus Ministry team.
  • Regularly engage in personal growth, professional development, theological study, prayer, charity and justice work, and spiritual formation.
  • Create and foster relationships with pastors and parish staff near college and university campuses.
  • Provide support to St. Anthony Student Center, including assisting with special projects, initiatives, administrative and operational support.
  • Adhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and take precautionary measures to ensure safety.
  • Protect the confidentiality of information obtained in the service of the organization.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Morals policy.
  • Take a solution-oriented approach in interactions and undertakings.
  • Be a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
