About The Position

The Grace J. Palmisano Center for Campus Ministry seeks a Campus Minister for Service and Social Justice to manage and run service, justice-related, and community engagement opportunities. This position notably works on the SEND service-immersion program and various days of service, aiming to provide students, faculty, and staff at Merrimack College with opportunities to grow in awareness of justice issues and put their faith into action.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Divinity, Theology and Ministry, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the SEND program, including selecting locations and community partner organizations for eight annual service/immersion trips and evaluating the program annually.
  • Select, train, and form 14-16 student leaders for the Send Program annually.
  • Select, train, and form 14-16 faculty/staff/graduate student advisors for the Send Program annually.
  • Oversee the application, selection, and placement process for eight annual Send trips, managing approximately 70-80 undergraduate participants.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with SEND leaders (14-16 student leaders).
  • Conduct weekly 2 on 1 meetings with specific trip leaders.
  • Advise two Send trips per academic year.
  • Create programming around peace and justice, collaborating with other departments and student groups on these topics.
  • Oversee various days of service, including Mack Gives Back, Thanksgiving Basket Drive, Christmas Toy Drive, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
  • Oversee the end-of-year donation drive called Sweeps Week.
  • Provide individual pastoral care and spiritual direction to students as needed.
  • Assist in supervising campus ministry retreats and spiritual groups.
  • Meet with the director of campus ministry on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the college.
