About The Position

The Office of Campus Ministry at Le Moyne College provides opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to grow spiritually, engage in service and social justice, make retreats, reflect on social issues, and practice their faith. The Campus Minister for Retreat Ministry and Faith Formation promotes the deepening of an active faith and spiritual life among students. This role involves creating vibrant programming, robust retreat offerings, and community-centered activities that foster a personal relationship with God, grounded in Ignatian spirituality and an understanding of faith formation in young adults. The position requires strategic development and refinement of programs based on student needs and interests. This is an 11-month position, working from August through June.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Pastoral Studies, theology or a related field.
  • An understanding of the principles of Ignatian spirituality, the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, the mission of Jesuit education, and Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Desire to work with a diverse faith community of undergraduate college students.
  • Familiarity with Karios retreat program.
  • Knowledge of O.C.I.A.
  • High level of initiative and imagination.
  • Flexibility to work extended and/or off-hours to meet program needs.
  • Ability to relate and collaborate with various groups both within the Le Moyne College community and the larger Syracuse community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, be self-directed and motivated, possess a high energy level and positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of computers, emphasis on Microsoft Office, Excel, Gmail and various social media platforms.
  • Strong organization and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create a compelling vision for and develop a dynamic portfolio of retreats and other experiences for faith formation and spiritual development.
  • Implement retreat programs and faith formation opportunities for students, including class year-specific retreats (e.g., First Year, Senior) and topic-based retreats (e.g., Kairos, Busy Student, Health & Wellness, Silent Retreat).
  • Create new retreat and faith formation opportunities for students of all faiths and those with no religious beliefs.
  • Promote opportunities to learn about and practice Ignatian Spirituality.
  • Create and maintain assessment measures for the program.
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and empower student leaders for the retreat program.
  • Reserve and coordinate the use of retreat facilities and college vans.
  • Coordinate the OCIA & Confirmation program.
  • Work with faith and service-based student organizations.
  • Keep and maintain accurate budget records for all programs.
  • Maintain a respectful environment for a diverse population of students, embracing diversity and treating students as individuals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Grace Center team and campus partners.
  • Serve, as needed, as a mentor for Campus Ministry's Service opportunities.
  • Assist with local service/outreach initiatives.
  • Serve as a Campus Ministry presence at Sunday Mass and attend all special liturgies of the college.
  • Attend and be visible at various religious services on campus, including Jumu'ah prayer and Protestant worship.
  • Attend and be visible at various campus events, including sporting, musical, lectures, and other social events.
  • Contribute to Mission Integration divisional meetings, webinars, and committees.
  • Demonstrate and role-model Le Moyne's mission-based competencies (collaboration, communication, diversity, integrity, leadership, and service).
  • Strengthen digital literacy skills through education and application of digital technologies.
  • Support cura personalis by treating all individuals with dignity, professionalism, and kindness.
  • Promote cura apostolica by aligning professional goals with college's strategic goals.
  • Demonstrate excellent work attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings and training sessions.

  • Complete all required federal, state, institution, and department trainings.
  • Engage in a planned program of professional development.
  • Continually maintain skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry.
  • Perform a variety of related duties as assigned.
