About The Position

Florida SouthWestern State College is seeking a Campus Grounds Maintenance Lead to perform outdoor work involving plant and landscape design and maintenance at a designated campus. This role will also provide recommendations and guidance to other campuses to ensure consistent landscape aesthetics College-wide. The Department of Facilities Planning and Management is dedicated to developing, implementing, and managing the College's facilities and grounds to provide a healthful, safe, and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff. Facility planning contributes the technical knowledge and experience for design and construction projects essential to Florida SouthWestern State College's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in horticulture, landscape architecture or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in parks maintenance, golf course, or resort landscaping and management, or a related field.
  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain, a valid Florida Driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel independently throughout the College service district.
  • Ability to perform or oversee irrigation installation, including mapping areas and installing pipes, lines, pumps, and electrical timers.
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak.
  • Ability to perform sitting, bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of plant and landscape design and maintenance at a designated campus.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to other campuses to ensure consistent landscape aesthetics College-wide.
  • Serve as a liaison to outside contractors and vendors.
  • Map out areas for irrigation installation.
  • Oversee the installation of pipes, lines, pumps, and electrical timers.
