About The Position

Unitek College is seeking a Campus Dean for its BSN Program in Fremont. This role is responsible for the overall supervision, development, planning, coordination, organization, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing program's activities. The Dean will manage the program budget, faculty and staff, curriculum, and ensure compliance with Board regulations. They will also serve as a student advocate, develop policies and procedures, oversee admissions, and maintain relationships with clinical sites and the community. The position involves preparing reports for state and Board requirements, maintaining student and faculty records, and participating in faculty recruitment and meetings. The Dean will also monitor instruction quality, engage in strategic planning, and interact with other college departments.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current RN license in the state where the campus is located.
  • A master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or University that includes course work in nursing, education or administration.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an administrative position.
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.
  • At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience as determined by the Board.

Responsibilities

  • Site supervision, development, planning, coordination, organization, implementation and evaluation of the nursing program activities.
  • Planning, developing, managing, updating and evaluating all aspects of the program including RN program budget, faculty and staff, clinical site liaison, curriculum development and implementation, program compliance with Board rules and regulations, site visits, student advocate, program policies and procedures, faculty and student handbooks, and supplies and equipment.
  • Preparing data and other written materials for all required state and Board requirements: reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys and site visits.
  • Ensuring that all student and faculty records on site are initiated and maintained in all phases of student academic status; works with Human Resources to maintain required documentation of faculty and staff qualifications.
  • Identifying and obtaining outside resources for the nursing program.
  • Developing and implementing program policies and procedures.
  • Organizing and serving on program committees.
  • Overseeing admission process and orientation.
  • Writing articulation agreements with nearby colleges detailing accepted course equivalents for the purpose of transferring into Eagle Gate, Provo, and Unitek College nursing programs.
  • Serving as liaison between community and the college.
  • Developing and ensuring that educational partnerships and contracts with clinical sites are initiated and maintained.
  • Performing and/or delegating a clinical site evaluation that includes a thorough assessment on the ability of the agency to provide Clinical experience that meets the objectives for application of theory and clinical course objectives. The assessment includes an analysis of risk, hazards and safety of all students, as well as ensuring adequate staffing to handle clinical objectives.
  • Meeting with specific clinical faculty or agency educational representative to discuss and confirm number of students, faculty assignments, dates, times, clinical rotations, and clinical objectives. Completing and forwarding BRN clinical approval forms as required prior to initiating clinical rotations.
  • Ensuring that evaluations by students, clinical sites representatives, and faculty at completion of each clinical rotation and provides summary report to the Dean, Chief Academic Officer, and shares same with Advisory Committee.
  • Ensuring the minutes of inter-agency meetings are maintained.
  • Participating in Nursing faculty recruitment, hiring and orientation.
  • Actively participating and or ensuring that nursing faculty meetings are conducted on a regular basis and adequate records and minutes of the meetings are maintained.
  • Participating in conflict resolution for faculty and students.
  • Initiating and maintaining community relationships; advocating for and marketing the programs.
  • Monitoring quality of instruction and participating in faculty and program review, evaluation, and strategic planning.
  • Maintaining membership and participating in activities of professional associations.
  • Interacting with other college entities as a representative of nursing interests such as counseling, registration and financial aid.
  • Providing advising support and degree planning assistance to potential student.
  • Providing input and ensuring that students are properly oriented to nursing skills lab and clinical facilities prior to initiating clinical rotations.
  • Managing student appeals and grievances per policy.
  • Participating in the planning and review process for the recruitment and admission of qualified nursing students.
  • Advising and provide academic support to nursing students as indicated.
  • Assuring that all students have completed the necessary documentation and met the requirements for graduation and licensing exam.
  • Conducting Nursing Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Monitoring student performance in program, NCLEX licensing and job placement rates.
