About The Position

This is an on-call, as-needed substitute position. Substitute Campus Assistants are assigned work based on District staffing needs; hours and assignments are not guaranteed and may vary with the availability of substitute assignments. Assignments may be scheduled for the 07:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. shift. Priority consideration is given to applicants available for both shifts. Applicants must be willing to accept on-call assignments at various school sites throughout the District.

Campus Assistants supervise children’s health, safety, and conduct in areas such as cafeterias, lunchrooms, lunch shelters, playgrounds, bus loading areas, restrooms, and locker rooms. They support safe, courteous behavior and help maintain a calm and controlled lunchroom atmosphere. They may accompany children between campus areas, assist children crossing intersections, and provide crossing guard duty as assigned.

Requirements

• Applicants must be willing to accept on-call assignments at various school sites throughout the District.
• No minimum entrance qualifications are required.

• Availability to work both shifts receives priority consideration.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children’s health, safety, and conduct in cafeterias, lunchrooms, lunch shelters, playgrounds, bus loading areas, restrooms, locker rooms, and other assigned areas.
• Supervise noon play activities that are in progress, without organizing or conducting them.
• Wipe down lunch table tops and seats before, during, and after assigned meal periods.
• Assist children with opening milk cartons and food packages, cleaning up small table spills, and maintaining a calm and controlled lunchroom atmosphere.
• Assist children in observing courtesies and safety rules.
• Maintain a respectful and courteous attitude toward children.
• Accompany children between campus areas as assigned.
• Assist school-age children across intersections during slow and peak traffic times to ensure their safety, as assigned.
• Provide crossing guard duty as assigned.
