About The Position

The Whidbey Island Campus Administrator serves as the primary on-site representative for the College, ensuring smooth daily operations and a responsive, student-centered environment. This role acts as a key liaison between the Whidbey and Mount Vernon Campuses, addressing emergent issues and supporting students, faculty, and staff. This position reports to a Cabinet level Vice President (to be determined). This position will be based on the Oak Harbor campus with regular travel to the Mount Vernon Campus. The incumbent will attend district-wide meetings to include student services leadership meetings, quarterly Academic Affairs instructional leadership meetings, Administrative Services Directors meeting and Information Technology meetings.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible leadership experience as a coordinator, manager, or director in the private or public sector.
  • Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, procedures and policies; College Operational Policies and Procedures; SVC College Strategic Plan; SVC Accreditation Standards; SVC Guiding Principles; SVC Strategic Priorities: Enrollment, Student Success, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Community Engagement; Basic principles of emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills; Leadership and management theories, including servant leadership.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills; Present information to individuals and large groups and in writing; Maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff and community organizations; Apply sound judgment to a variety of problems within the workplace; Skill in managing and administering budgets, grants, and contracts; Proficiency in Microsoft Office software or similar programs; Excellent customer service skills; Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds; Strong organizational skills; Excellent skills in team building and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of shared accountability and partnership by working collaboratively within the College’s established organizational structure; Serve as the first point of contact for on-site operational concerns, addressing and troubleshooting a wide range of day-to-day issues (facilities, technology, scheduling, and student services); Communicate promptly and effectively with appropriate District departments to resolve emergent or complex issues; Monitor campus conditions and ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors.
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered environment that supports student success and retention; Assist students in accessing college services and resources; provide referrals and basic problem resolution; Identify barriers to student access and success and communicate recommendations for improvement.
  • Communicate with the Academic Vice President in the development of quarterly and annual course schedules that are responsive to student demand and community needs; Provide data-informed and experiential input regarding enrollment trends, program needs, and site capacity; Support implementation and coordination of instructional programs at the site.
  • Serve as the primary campus liaison to Administrative Services leadership, ensuring that facilities, information technology, business operations, and security services are responsive to the evolving needs of the Whidbey Island Campus; Lead the campus Emergency Operations Center, coordinating local emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, while actively collaborating as a member of the Districtwide emergency operations team to ensure alignment with established protocols, communication standards, and risk management practices.
  • Provide Campus-level insight and input into District-wide planning efforts to ensure alignment with the College's Strategic Plan; Support site-level administrative functions, including space coordination, event/room set-up, IT support, room scheduling, and basic reporting. Ensure compliance with college policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations; Help coordinate and support on-site events, ensuring logistics, staffing, and communication are effectively managed; Participate in relevant committees, trainings, and professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned to support campus operations.
