About The Position

This unique opportunity to serve as the Campground Host at the Lake Reidsville Campground requires you to bring your own camper or RV. In exchange for host duties, you will be provided a campsite in the campground, which includes free water, sewer, electrical, and Wi-Fi. You will also be provided with a City-owned golf cart to assist you with the required tasks of this position. Please note that there are weekend and holiday expectations related to this position, and you should expect to work most weekends and all holidays. You may be given priority ranking for any Camp Store vacancies that occur in the future, if you are interested in part-time wages.

Requirements

  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people and to maintain professional relationships with them.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to maintain positive outlook when confronted by guests and/or visitors who are dissatisfied.
  • Ability to walk throughout the campground.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
  • Knowledgeable about Lake Reidsville, the Lake Reidsville Park and Campground, as well as surrounding area and points of interest.
  • Must provide own RV or travel trailer.
  • Cannot reside in a tent.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between park guests and visitors, and the park staff, particularly after normal operating hours for the camp store.
  • Resolve and respond to issues after normal hours of operation and on the weekends.
  • Extend polite and informative customer service to park guests and visitors, and serve as a role model for campground conduct.
  • Greet and introduce themselves to new arrivals in the campground, and maintain a clean and orderly camp site.
  • Distribute maps, copies of park rules and regulations, and brochures about Lake Reidsville and local State Parks.
  • Assist campers in locating a vacant campsite.
  • Practice good housekeeping of their designated camping slot.
  • Remain familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by campers such as towing, groceries, churches, tourist attractions and local events.
  • Contribute to educational activities and special events as deemed appropriate by the Representative, or their designee.
  • Assist campers with setup, when appropriate.
  • Provide visitors and guests with information on park programs and special events, when appropriate.
  • Perform minor upkeep, restocking, and sanitation roles in the bathhouse on weekends, including monitoring supplies, contributing to general tidiness, emptying trash, and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Maintain the campground by picking up litter, cleaning campsites, removing logs and ashes from campfire rings, tidying up bathhouses, replenishing restroom supplies, and performing minor repairs.
  • Be on-call as determined through cooperation between the Host and Park staff.
  • Notify campers and their guests and visitors of the parking policy within the campground and notify the Reidsville Police Department for assistance if guests fail to comply.
  • Monitor the campground for disturbances and conflict between parties of guests, and contact park staff and/or other law enforcement personnel when emergencies or activities within the park warrant.
  • Remain observant of situations which require immediate attention, such as a tree that needs to be trimmed or removed; or troublesome campers, and reach out to contacts for support and solutions if unable to resolve independently.
  • Sell firewood bundles to visitors and guests after regular business hours and submit fees collected to the Camp Store Clerk on the next business day.
  • Notify park maintenance staff or the camp store staff if the supply of firewood bundles runs low.
  • Perform all other Host duties as defined by the Park Staff and the Volunteer Host based upon Park requirements and Host ambitions provided they do not conflict with basic duties.
