About The Position
The Camp Sports Specialist plans and leads age-appropriate sports and physical activity programming that promotes teamwork, skill development, and fun. This role supports daily camp programming through structured games and inclusive physical activities.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience as a senior counselor or specialty director at a licensed day or resident camp
- Experience working with children in a camp, recreation, or coaching setting
- Knowledge of basic sports and group games
- Ability to manage large groups and maintain safety
Nice To Haves
- Coaching, physical education, or recreation background
- First Aid / CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Studying Physical Education, or holds degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead daily sports and physical activities
- Teach basic sport skills and rules in a positive, inclusive manner
- Modify games for different ages and abilities
- Ensure proper equipment use and safety
- Maintain an organized activity area and equipment inventory
- Support positive behavior management
- Assist with all-camp games and special events
- Follow all camp safety policies and procedures
