About The Position

This position is located at Camp Hidden Lake in Lexington, MS. The Camp Senior Maintenance Worker is responsible for inspecting and coordinating a variety of maintenance and equipment functions and repairs for Salvation Army buildings on camp property, living quarters, and grounds. This includes work on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Some coursework from a technical or vocational school in construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Three years of experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds.
  • Two years of maintenance and carpentry experience.
  • Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting.
  • Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects (25-50 lbs.).
  • Physical ability to 'team lift' heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (50-100 lbs) occasionally.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
  • Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.
  • Valid State Driver’s License (if required by duties).

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Runs errands.
  • Performs plumbing, painting, and carpentry repair work.
  • Oversees work being done by others, including vendors.
  • Ensures vendors perform work as scheduled and within repair estimates.
  • Assists with setting up tables and other equipment needed for special events.
  • Regularly cleans buildings and sanitizes as necessary.
  • Performs routine groundskeeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment on a regular basis to ensure all light fixtures, AC units, program equipment, and systems are working properly and free from unnecessary leaks, debris, mold, etc.
  • Tests, adjusts, and diagnoses all machinery, heating, cooling, piping, and electrical systems.
  • Records maintenance issues and inspections in accordance with schedules.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs minor mechanical and equipment malfunctions.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on dishwashers, laundry machines, vent fans, playground equipment, etc.
  • Performs minor adjustments.
