About The Position

The Camp Nurse works cooperatively with program managers and the Warm Beach Camp Ministries Nurse Program On-Site Coordinator to deliver quality health care for attendees of Warm Beach Camp (WBC) programs. This role operates professionally within the scope of their license under the authority of an attending physician providing Medical Standing Orders/Protocols. The Camp Nurse must demonstrate cooperative behavior towards colleagues, guests, and supervisors, and regular attendance is essential.

  • Nursing experience as LPN or RN.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-starter and organized.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people and personalities.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • LPN or RN license.
  • Driver's License.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Review and familiarize with the WBC Nursing Policies and Procedures Manual and the WBC Medical Standing Orders.
  • Complete nursing orientation with the WBC Nurse Program On-Site Coordinator.
  • Participate in the registration process for camp events, including camper medication intake, health interview review with parents/guardians, initiating plans for camper health needs, and setting up the Camper Medication Administration Record.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and labeled on original packaging, in accordance with WBC policies, procedures, and nursing best practices.
  • Be physically present on WBC grounds for the duration of assigned camp events, available for routine healthcare, medication administration, and first response to medical emergencies.
  • Maintain standard nurse documentation as per WBC protocol.
  • Provide for the general health and safety of campers and the camping environment.
  • Restock assigned supplies as needed and assist with other nursing-related tasks.
  • Assist with nursing needs in other areas of camp as necessary and requested.
  • Ensure the safe return of all medications and medical equipment to parents/guardians at the close of youth camp events.
