About The Position

The YMCA of Three Rivers is seeking a skilled and energetic Camp Maintenance Worker for Camp Belwood. This part-time contract position involves ensuring the upkeep, safety, and smooth operation of the camp's facilities and grounds. The role is physically demanding and requires flexibility in tasks. Camp Belwood is a beautiful lakeside setting that provides a safe and enriching environment for youth.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in general maintenance, repair work, or a similar environment.
  • Proficiency with various hand/power tools.
  • Experience operating lawnmowers and tractors and other machinery.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team with various skills and abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Proactive team player who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment and upholding JAIDE (Justice, Access, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity) values.
  • Ability to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions, including frequent walking, lifting, and physical exertion.
  • A successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • G- Class License.
  • The employee must be able to arrange their transportation to these sites.
  • A valid G driver’s license and full-time vehicle access are strongly recommended.

Nice To Haves

  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED is an asset.
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs to camper cabins (doors, windows, screens, bunks, paint) and assist with renovations to existing and new buildings and structures.
  • Maintain and repair camp docks, decks, and motorboat, to ensure total safety and functionality for campers.
  • Maintain campgrounds by mowing, trimming, and clearing pathways.
  • Operate tractors and other machinery for various site tasks.
  • Safely operate camp trucks, including those with trailers, to transport materials and equipment.
  • Address plumbing leaks, structural and mechanical issues proactively to prevent disruptions to camp life.
  • Assist with the seasonal opening and closing of camp systems to ensure standards are met.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, maintain clean worksites, and ensure all equipment is in excellent repair.
