About The Position

The Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI) is seeking a Camp Maintenance Technician to live onsite at OMSI's residential camp, Hancock Field Station, located in rural central Oregon. This is a full-time, year-round position with onsite living accommodations available. The technician will be responsible for recognizing, mitigating, and responding to hazards to ensure a healthy and safe program for all participants. They will also provide general maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and gas/electric appliances and systems for all camp buildings, including staff housing.

Requirements

Strong mechanical aptitude.
Understanding of electrical, mechanical, carpentry and/or PPE procedures.
Familiarity with OSHA compliance and safety protocols.
Ability to read and understand as-built drawings, equipment schematics, and equipment manuals.
Experience troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, appliance, and HVAC issues.
Familiarity with tools commonly found in small to medium commercial maintenance shops.
2 years of experience with increasing responsibility in electrical, plumbing, site improvements, and preventative maintenance in a commercial or industrial setting.
Demonstrated experience working independently and safely with mechanical systems.
Familiarity with gas-based appliances.
Familiarity with HVAC systems.
Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance.
Prior experience creating and updating maintenance and safety records in a shareable digital format.
Pass pre-employment checks (criminal background checks, reference checks, American Camp Association (ACA) background checks).
Valid driver's license and meet OMSI's driving standards (requires MVR check).
Have or be able to maintain a Small Water Systems Operator certification.

Responsibilities
