Position Overview The Camp Lead Teacher FLOAT ensures continuity of high-quality summer programming by delivering engaging, standards-aligned literacy, math, and enrichment activities across classrooms. This role advances student engagement and learning outcomes by implementing inquiry-based, theme-driven instruction and maintaining consistent classroom structure in the absence of Lead Teachers. The position requires adaptability, strong instructional delivery, and the ability to respond to varying student needs while maintaining program quality and safety standards, including participation in weekly on-site water activities. Schedule: Pre-Program: Approximately 2 hours of pre-program training/program orientation to be held prior to program start. Program Weeks: July 6 - July 31, 2026 o Shift 1 - Full Time - 8:00-4:00 Mon-Fri, plus 2.5 hrs of planning time. Total of 40 hours per week. o Shift 2 - Part Time - 11:30-4:00 Mon-Thurs, 8:00-4:00 on Fri, plus 2.25 hours of planning time. Total of 27.5 hours per week

Requirements

  • Elementary teaching certification required.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering structured, high-quality instruction to school-age children, preferably at the elementary level.
  • Proven ability to plan and facilitate engaging academic and enrichment activities.
  • Experience managing classroom behavior and maintaining structured learning environments in group settings.
  • Instructional Adaptability: Adjusts teaching strategies and lesson delivery in response to real-time student needs and learning styles.
  • Classroom Leadership: Establishes clear expectations, maintains structure, and creates a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Student Engagement: Designs and delivers activities that sustain student interest and promote active participation.
  • Communication: Effectively exchanges information with staff and students to support program alignment and student success.
  • Accountability & Reliability: Consistently fulfills assigned responsibilities, including coverage needs and schedule adherence.
  • Team Collaboration: Works collaboratively with program staff to ensure continuity and quality across all classrooms.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers high-quality literacy, math, and enrichment instruction aligned to weekly program themes, ensuring lessons are engaging, inquiry-based, and responsive to student interest and ability levels.
  • Maintains instructional continuity by effectively implementing lesson plans developed by Lead Teachers, ensuring minimal disruption to classroom learning during staff absences.
  • Drives student engagement and skill development by facilitating open-ended, hands-on activities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Adapts lesson delivery in real time based on student needs, behavioral dynamics, and developmental levels to ensure inclusive and effective learning experiences.
  • Ensures a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment that promotes student participation, accountability, and appropriate behavior throughout program day activities.
  • Manages classroom operations, including transitions, group management, and activity flow, to ensure efficient and productive use of instructional time.
  • Monitors and reinforces program expectations for student behavior, ensuring consistent classroom management practices aligned with program standards.
  • Facilitates enrichment and recreational activities, including weekly water-based programming, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and supervision requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with Lead Teachers and program leadership to align on instructional expectations, student needs, and classroom continuity plans.
  • Tracks student participation and engagement to support program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participates in required pre-program orientation and training to ensure readiness for program delivery and compliance with organizational expectations.
  • Collaborates with team members to support overall camp operations, including coverage needs and group supervision across classrooms.
  • Contributes to a positive team environment by maintaining professionalism, flexibility, and a solutions-oriented approach to daily program challenges.
  • Supports adherence to all applicable safety, licensing, and organizational policies during program operations.
