About The Position

The Camp Equine Assistant Director will assist with maintaining appropriate paperwork for children's files, oversee Horse Riding Assistants and Equine Apprentices, and provide crisis intervention. This role involves assisting with organization, planning, and scheduling, as well as planning and leading daily activities. Key responsibilities include ensuring attendance, maintaining a fun and safe environment, ensuring appropriate staff-to-child ratios, completing daily checklists, and ensuring the daily care of horses (feeding, cleaning). The Assistant Director must adhere to all DPH regulations and Old Colony YMCA policies and procedures. Additionally, they will adhere to all fiscal policies, order supplies for Circle Y within budget constraints, ensure a sanitary and healthy environment, assist in maintaining the barn, stables, and horse equipment, be familiar with emergency procedures, and assist in public relations events sponsored by the Old Colony Y.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience teaching horseback lessons for children 9-15 years of age and stable management required.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of physical examination every two years.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test.
  • Immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Certification of good health from a physician.
  • Ma Riding Instructor License.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining appropriate paperwork for children’s files.
  • Oversee Horse Riding Assistant and Equine Apprentices.

  • Ensure attendance.
  • Ensure a fun and safe environment.
  • Ensure an appropriate ratio at all times.
  • Ensure checklists are completed daily.
  • Ensure daily care of horses (feeding, cleaning).
  • Adhere to all DPH regulations and Old Colony YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all fiscal policies as outlined by the Association.
  • Order all supplies needed for Circle Y adhering to budget constraints.
  • Ensure that a sanitary healthy environment is maintained.
  • Assist in maintaining the barn and stables as well as all horse equipment.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures.
  • Assist in public relations events sponsored by the Old Colony Y.
