About The Position

Camp Bette Perot is a year-round camp with more than 210 bedspaces and a thriving equestrian program, situated on approximately 1,300 acres of pineywoods in East Texas and open since 1970. The Camp Director is responsible for mission delivery oversight, planning, and strong staff leadership of day and overnight camp programs serving Girl Scout campers, volunteers, and families through summer camp, weekend camping, and special events. This team member serves as the primary onsite director of daily operations, with the goal of providing consistent, high-quality experiences of belonging and growth for all visitors. The position reports to the Vice President of Camps & Outdoor Leadership and is a key member of a team stewarding four camp properties dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character through community life outdoors.

Requirements

  • Must be able to travel within established geographic areas and council service centers, as necessary
  • Must have reliable transportation, hold a valid driver’s license and meet GSNETX driving record & automobile insurance requirements

  • Reside within a 45-minute drive of the center of camp (and remain accessible for emergencies via phone overnight when camp is in session).
  • Be active outdoors in variable weather conditions all year, including walking around camp on uneven terrain

Responsibilities

  • Champion the Girl Scout mission by creating a welcoming, inclusive camp environment that reflects organizational priorities, traditions, and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Represent camp in the community and contribute to long-term property planning and development efforts.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and support permanent and seasonal staff and volunteers in alignment with team priorities and shared plans.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • Lead the design and delivery of engaging, safe, and inclusive programs such as summer camp, weekend camping, and special events in cooperation with broader team.
  • Ensure high-quality visitor experiences and accommodations for diverse needs.
  • Oversee daily operations including activities, dining services, housekeeping, maintenance, vendor coordination, and emergency response.
  • Ensure all infrastructure and services meet safety, health, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and manage camp budgets, collaborate on administrative systems, and ensure efficient operations across scheduling, communications, evaluation, supply procurement, and more.
  • Maintain compliance with ACA standards, state health codes, and Girl Scout policies.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all visitors, including emergency preparedness and implementation of emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to grow participation, enhance programming, and expand volunteer support.
