About The Position

The Camp Craft Director will cooperate with the Program Director in planning and implementing the camp program. This role is responsible for organizing and administering a safe and meaningful program in the area of arts and crafts that aligns with the goals and objectives of Camp Del Oro. The director will develop innovative craft approaches to encourage camper creativity, ensure each camper completes a craft to take home, and maintain order and cleanliness in the craft house. Additionally, the role involves training counselors on program rules and crafts, designing nature-themed crafts, managing craft supply inventory, and coordinating craft activities with other camp programs. The Camp Craft Director will also assist with campfire programs, provide support to overall camp operations, help with break day duties, maintain personal and living quarter cleanliness, participate in evening programs and spiritual activities, and assist with camp clean-up at the end of sessions and the summer. This role also supports the Program Director with end-of-summer inventories and other duties as needed. All staff are expected to contribute to the total operation and program of the camp, including evening activities.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have general skills in working with children

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative approaches to crafts that will encourage campers to experiment and explore their own creativity.
  • Ensure each camper completes at least one craft project which will be taken home as a reminder of his camp experience.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness in the craft house.
  • Train and assist counselors to be familiar with rules, programs and crafts available to campers.
  • Design program crafts reflecting nature.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials to insure a good program is conducted for all camp sessions.
  • Report supply needs and give a materials list to the program director for purchase.
  • Coordinate all craft activities with other camp programs.
  • Assist the assistant program director with implementing campfire program.
  • Give support to total camp programs.
  • Assist with break day duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  • Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
  • Assist with clean up of total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
  • Assist with the camp brief at the end of the summer.
  • Assist the Program Director in completing inventories at summer's end.
  • Assist the Program Director with other duties as needed.
  • Be involved in the total camp program.
  • Join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Program Director.
