About The Position

This role involves leading a hands-on summer camp for children aged 6-12. The camp combines animal education, games, and activities, with a focus on ensuring every camper feels safe, included, and engaged. The position requires an energetic, patient, and passionate individual ready to create a fun, safe, and meaningful summer experience.

Requirements

  • At least 16 years old with an interest in working with children or animals
  • Experience working with youth (camp, school, recreation, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage groups of children
  • Ability to stay organized, flexible, and calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn basic animal handling and behavior
  • Understanding of child development and group supervision
  • Ability to follow structured schedules and safety procedures

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid Driver's License (if operating City vehicles)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide campers, ensuring their physical and emotional safety at all times
  • Lead games, activities, and animal-related lessons in a structured camp environment
  • Support safe, educational interactions between campers and shelter animals
  • Maintain clean, organized spaces and follow all safety procedures
  • Build positive relationships with campers, families, and team members
